David McCoy joined Kern Energy (Kern) in 2009 and currently serves as Sr. Vice President – Operations. In this role, he oversees all refinery operations, including technical support from our environmental, engineering, informational technology and maintenance departments.

Since joining the Kern team more than a decade ago, McCoy has held several leadership roles throughout the refinery, including Engineering Manager and Vice President – Refining before assuming the role of Sr. Vice President – Operations. McCoy has more than 25 years of expertise in the refining industry, having previously worked at Big West of California as a Project Engineer, responsible for providing technical engineering and project engineering services to various contacts throughout the refinery.

McCoy earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from California Polytechnic University, Pomona. In his free time, he enjoys playing competitive tennis and reading about distinguished leaders like the late John Wooden and John C. Maxwell.
